Drilling Fluids – Systems and Solutions – Specialty Systems

Marquis Alliance is a leading provider of drilling fluid systems and solutions to the oil and gas industry. In the process Marquis Alliance has developed and thoroughly tested many different types of both water based and oil based fluid systems and products that have revolutionized the industry.  Companies around the globe have used our innovative systems and products to increase their operational excellence.

MA Foam Underbalanced

Underbalanced drilling is a technique that is used in formations that are prone to severe losses or susceptible to formation damage when using conventional drilling fluids. An underbalanced situation occurs when the hydrostatic head of the drilling fluid is intentionally designed to be less than the pressure of the formation being drilled. If a poor foam fluid is used or not maintained the potential for slugging (foam to fluid) can exist at times causing even greater damage as the wellbore fluid is now overbalanced and the fluid can then flow into the formation.

Foam systems are underbalanced and allow reservoir fluids such as oil or water to enter the system. This can cause problems as the typical foam systems are not resilient in the presence of these liquids and consequently crash foam leading to slugging and an overbalanced situation. The MA underbalanced foam system has been designed to tolerate the contaminate and minimize the potential for slugging which, in turn, prevents possible formation damage.

MA DSTR

The MA DSTR system is utilized to aid the near wellbore permeability of horizontal oil wells through the reduction of radial wellbore surface tension. Engineers will utilize this fluid system if they are planning on open hole completions or slotted liners without perforating or fracing oil reservoirs. The system is composed of low damage polymer system with dynamic surface tension reducers.

MA FRAC ATTACK ®

The MA Frac Attack® system is a LCM system with a fast acting dewatering action, instigated by pressure applied to the pill. It deposits a solid sealing “plug” into and across the loss zone, as the liquid phase, consisting of a highly inhibitive calcium based fluid, is quickly de-watered into the formation. The system is self contained in one sack, but Barite should be added to ensure the system is equal or up to 600 kg/m3 more than the active mud density. STRATA-VANGUARD can also be added, at 60-80 kg/m3 of finished pill volume, for added sealing capacity and strength. The pill can be pumped through down hole equipment but spotting the pill then pulling out of the pill and loss zone is essential.

MA CoalFloc

The unique properties of coal make conventional drilling practices and fluids not optimal to ensure productivity. The purpose of the MA CoalFloc system design is to remove the coal fines from the produced water allowing a particle free brine system to enter the coal system. The Coalfloc design uses both chemical and mechanical methods to provide a cost effective fluid cleaning process to maximize the coals productivity.

MA Glybond

As the preservation of the environment becomes more and more prevalent, oil based mud systems are proving to be more expensive and damaging to use. Due to the ever changing requirements of our customers Marquis Alliance has developed a water based fluid system that will match the performance of an invert based mud. The MA Glybond system is an environmentally and worker friendly fluid system that will provide wellbore stability, additional lubricity, optimal ROP, as well as cost effectiveness. The system is designed to cater to the individual requirements of each area as it can be tailored to the conditions down hole for optimal drilling performance.  The key additive is a glycol based product, MA EAF-7, that is tailored to the downhole conditions of the target area.
