Laboratory Services

Marquis Alliance is one of the only environmental companies that have an in-house laboratory dedicated to conducting research on environmental treatments and mud additive design.

For environmental research and treatment design, Marquis Alliance has developed many proprietary solutions for common drilling waste challenges. In our Calgary laboratory, Marquis Alliance has a Microtox Analyzer, salinity and mud property test equipment and other specialized equipment. Drilling waste treatments include:

Barium Treatment

A treatment designed to lower soluble barium concentrations associated with the calcium chloride extraction test method.

SAR Treatment

A treatment designed to lower SAR while minimizing associated EC increases. In addition, this treatment additive is highly soluble and thus provides a rapid and complete SAR adjustment. Applications include the treatment of silicate based mud systems where SAR issues influence disposal.

Foam Based Mud System Treatment

A multi-phased foam mud treatment that lowers the toxicity of foam systems by binding toxicants and breaking them down to allow for on-site disposal.

Non-Nitrogen Based Flocculation Treatment

Used as a flocculation treatment when nitrogen is a loading issue or not a suitable flocculant for the removal of solids.

In addition to this Marquis Alliance has the expertise to specially design treatment systems based on client and regulatory requirements.

Marquis Alliance also has the most stringent QA/QC program of any Drilling Waste Management company in Canada. Internal QA/QC is conducted to ensure that we can supply the best service to our clients and protect our clients in the event of audit situations. Some of our internal laboratory based Quality Control measures include:

  • Regular blind samples being sent to the field for analysis to ensure that Marquis Alliance field testing is accurate
  • Multi-year training sessions for environmental technicians to ensure testing is timely and accurate
  • Third-party laboratory annual sample comparison
